Simple Stories Life in Colour - Today & Everyday by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

Hope you all had an enjoyable Easter long weekend and got some scrapping time in there!
Today I am sharing a layout created with another recent addition to the Simple Stories range, Life in Colour. Oh this could be my favourite of the new releases, it is just GORGEOUS! Brights teamed up with black to really make things pop!

Today & Everyday

This is a recent photo of my daughter, taken for no special reason, just how she is everyday, usually happy and smiley! A beautiful close up deserves to be big, so I have printed this in 5x7 with a white border to frame the black and white image.

With so many gorgeous colours to choose in this range, I decided to go with some dramatic red on black and the add in the softer teal and some patterns.

The gorgeous embellishments in the bits and pieces die-cuts from this collection include some with shiny silver highlights which are just divine.

I decided to make my title pop on the page by using a bright yellow, which is accented in the patterned papers. To get this gorgeous bright yellow I have painted my 2Crafty Chipboard title with Dylusions Paint, it gives such great bold coverage.

I've kept this page very clean and finished off with some simple embellishments of Cocoa Vanilla Flowers and a Simple Stories adhesive brad.

Thanks for stopping by

Photo Play Belle Vie (Julie Nutting) Layout by Rachel Lowe:

Happy Easter Monday everyone, I hope you have had a wonderful Easter break
with family and friends.

Today I am sharing a layout using the new collection by Photo Play, Belle Vie by Julie Nutting.
I fell in love with it as soon as I spotted it in store, it is has a vintage look with it's dark
florals, soft pink and cream hues.

My background paper is Kraft. Using a script stencil and modelling creme  I created the
first layer of the layout. I then splashed randomly with gold colour shine.

Using the stunning 2Crafty heart clusters I then created another layer. I inked them in a
 soft pink ink.

I have randomly sewn on my paper layers to add even more texture.
I have also foam taped the sticker element stickers.

Here are some close ups

This layout is not my usual scrapping style but I love how it turned our.
Thank you for stopping by and see you next week.

Hello Sunshine
by Tammy Klingner

Good morning everyone!

This week I've had a play with Summery Papers.
I used Cocoa Vanilla Hello Sunshine and Simple Stories Summer Vibes

It was so much fun to work with these.
I got a bit carried away, and couldn't stop creating, as you will see!
Both work really well with 'beachy' photos from a recent summer family holiday.

Firstly, a layout.  I kept this page fairly simple, as I just LOVE that background paper,
and didn't want to cover it up too much.
I added a few strips of paper (this is one of my favourite techniques), and cut out a few
sayings from the papers.  I then added some 2Crafty Chipboard and a few flicks of spritz.

I absolutely loved using the word paper from Cocoa Vanilla.
I couldn't stop cutting out those cute little sayings.

For those of you who regularly look at my work, you will know I'm trying to use the leftover
s from ranges to create a week in my Project Life Album.
This week I actually created two!!
I had so many great photos from our holiday that I wanted to include, so I went a little
 'nuts' and kept creating.

Here's the left side:

And here's the right:

And because I couldn't stop, here's another spread:

The left side:

And the right:

In most of my Project Life spreads, I like to add extra photos.
I have created the following technique to enable me to include 'more' in my weeks.
I also use this technique to include extra journaling, particularly if that journaling is about a sensitive topic.
I attach photos back to back, and then adhere these using washi tape, along the edge of the Project Life Card - on the side where the opening of the plastic sleeve is.  This creates a flap, and means the top photo sits on the outside of the plastic sleeve.  To ensure this flap is strong, add washi to both the outside, and also the inside hinge.
Here's a piccy:

It certainly makes your album more interesting and interactive to look through.
Plus I get to use some of the washi tape in my stash!!

Well that's finally it from me this week!
Thanks for reading this very long blog post.
I hope you get some scrappy time in over the weekend.

Love Tam

Simple Stories Carpe Diem Picture Perfect by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

Happy Hump Day!

Today I am popping in to share my recent class layout for All About Scrapbooks crop day, created using the beautiful new Simple Stories Carpe Diem collection.

Pretty as a Picture

For this class we used a technique we have used before, this time with some Distress Ink. We used some clear gesso on the background page - clear so the pattern would still show through. I prefer the clear gesso in general as it is thinner than the white and doesn't leave a yellowish tinge.

Next we used the plastic bag our chipboard came in and spritzed a little distress ink onto it, then spritzed some water, mixed it together and dabbed it onto our page. By adding extra water you can get a lighter pink and less water a darker pink. Some paper towel dabbed onto the ink helps dry it quicker but gives a lighter finish.

The 2Crafty chipboard pieces have been inked and the given a light dab with some Stickles to add some sparkle - without going too overboard! The hearts have been cut to fit underneath my photos. My title was custom made for the class.

After creating some paper layers, the page was finished off with some extra sparkle, some beads and a couple of sequins and a simple white flower.

Thanks for stopping by
Till next week

Fiona

Basic Grey - You Have My Heart by Rachel Lowe

I like the opportunity to scrap my hubby and I, as most of my layouts are dominated
by my children.

I have used a combination of Basic Grey Dear Heart and Typeset collections to
create this layout.

This layout evolved from the journal card 'you have my heart' and the February calendar
from the Letterpress Paper (you could choose the month of any special event).

I hand cut numerous sized hearts. I created an embellishment from them by sewing them
together and then using foam tape when placing them on my layout.

I have also sewn randomly on the layout (I have sewn in a 'messy' fashion for visual
effect and texture).

I have also foam taped my photo.

I love the grey background which gives a classy feel against the pink hues.

To ensure my photo remains the focus I chose a portrait photo which contrasts with the horizontal design.

Here are some close up photos.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you find some scrapping time in your week.

Crate Paper's Shine
by Tammy Klingner

Happy Friday Everyone!

This week I had a play with Crate Paper's Shine Range by Maggie Holmes.
I adore Crate Paper, but often miss out on their embellishments.
So I decided to just have a play with their papers, and add other embellishments.
You may have worked out by now that I love mixing ranges!

I began by swiping gesso over my background striped paper.
I then added some spritz, and then a few strips of the various papers from the range.
I added my photos, in a cluster over these, focusing on one side of the paper, as I wanted to ensure I left enough space for my title and journaling.

I then had a blast with 2 Crafty Chipboard.  I went with a circular theme, and painted them in colours that matched the papers.  I added a few swipes of black and white as well, as I wanted them to look a bit 'arty' and not too perfect.

I then added some word stickers, my title, and some flicks of spritz/paint.

This was a fun page, with some selfie photos my girl took on my phone!
What can I say? She really shouldn't do that, cause she knows I'm gonna print them and scrap them! (insert evil laugh here).

I also decided to create a Project Life spread using this range.
I'm really enjoying creating a weekly spread from the leftovers.
Plus it has the bonus of keeping me kind of up to date!  I think I've mentioned before how I got really behind last year (like 5 months), and playing catch up nearly killed me!
So this year I'm determined to keep up.
I'm happy to say, I'm only a few weeks behind.

Here's the left side:

And the right:

I love the colours in this range, and I especially love the black and white stripe paper!
I find it really draws my eye into the design.

See you next week!
Love Tam

Kaisercraft Old Mac - Horse Riding by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

Mixing it up this week with some Kaisercraft Old Mac to create this layout of my daughter's first proper horse ride. She went with some friends but I was sent this photo, she was just so excited!

Horseriding

The Old Mac collection is perfect for anything farm related or anything where you want some natural colours. I really liked some of the papers but a little more colour was called for, so I added some pink - to match her pants, from the Simple Stories Life in Color range.

How cute is the 2Crafty chipboard fence? Love it, and I have simply inked over it very lightly in sections with some pinecone ink to keep the natural look. The fence piece has been cut then tucked under each side of the paper layers.

Doing a horse themed layout, I decided to have a little hunt for some horsey embellishments and found this cute gold one in an older Crate paper ephemera pack - love these packets, always so many bits and pieces you can just keep using! The little tag with happiness was also in the pack.

I've finished off with a light pink title and a little more pink with one of the gorgeous Green Tara fantasy blooms.

Thanks for stopping by
Till next week

Fiona

Basic Grey - You Are Loved layout and cards/gift set by Rachel Lowe:

I was very sad to hear Basic Grey will be no more. I have always loved their collections.

This has to be one of my favourite photos of my youngest boy and his mama!

I have used a mixture of Dear Heart and Typeset collections to create this layout and
some cards, gift tags and pillow boxes.

I went totally vintage with this layout. I loved the hues of green and oranges.
I used some vellum to soften the layers under my photo.

I fussy cut bird on a branch from the Dear Heart, Dearest paper and then used dimensional
magic on the leaves, flower bunch and branch to give it a 3D effect. I also fussy cut
a butterfly and used dimensional magic again.

I used a 1/2 inch round punch on the Letterpress paper to create my title.

I have sewn on this layout in keeping with a vintage feel.

I loved the 2Crafty loopy border which I inked in gold.

I used Lame Colour Shine to splash on the background paper.

I enjoy making 'pretty stuff' (thanks Heidi Swapp!!) and so I made a trio of cards. For extra details I have sewn on the cards and made my flowers 3D. I have added a 2Crafty word border (love) for extra texture and impact (I inked in black).

Pillow boxes are great for gift packages. I have used Papermania bare basic wooden shape as a tag. I have used a flair and some element stickers to add a sentiment.

These papers go brilliantly with Kraft and keeps a vintage/shabby feel.

Here are some close up photos.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you find some scrapping time this week.

Happy Place
by Tammy Klingner

Happy FriYay! Everyone!

I'm back with another layout from Fancy Pants Happy Place Range.
The colours and on-trend designs make these papers so easy to work with.

The colours are so happy and fun and perfect for some recent photos from a
family beach holiday.
This photo is one of my absolute favourites from the holiday - I love absolutely everything about it.  It pretty much captures our seven days in the one photo.
Every time I look at it I'm right back there, at the beach.
However, all that red on the boogie boards put me off!! But I really wanted to scrap it in colour and not black and white, so what to do??
So I teamed it with a white background, added red accents, and added a touch of black.  I find black and white always 'grounds' bright colours and tone everything down.

I added some 2 Crafty Chipboard Triangles as they complemented the paper so well, and because, well, I just can't NOT use them at the moment! Lol.
The die cuts and word stickers from this range made this layout so simple
to bring together.
I love it when a range has so many extras to go with it!

I LOVE this range so much I thought it would look awesome in one of my Project Life Spreads. Some of you may not realise I complete a weekly spread, and have kept this up for 2 years. Yay!  Last year, I got really behind, but managed to catch up, so am determined to not let that happen this year.

So here's the look at our week:

I love the colour palette, and all the little embellishments suited Project Life so well.
